Laura Thomas

Laura Thomas is the owner of Hidden Habitat, a native plant nursery that supports ecological landscaping design in Gravenhurst, Ontario. A graduate of the University of Waterloo’s Environment and Resource Studies program she has worked in the landscape industry for over fifteen years; blending her passion for conservation and landscape design. Laura saw the need for better, sustainable land management practices, especially within the realm of private landowners. Merging the elements of good landscape design with the practices of restoration ecology seemed both obvious and necessary given the fragmentation and destruction of landscapes today. An enthusiastic naturalist, certified Ontario Master Naturalist, and Director of the Muskoka Conservancy, Laura enjoys exploring Muskoka's natural landscapes and sharing her passion and knowledge of native plants.
